Transport

Direct flights operate from most major European cities to the new international airport of Thessaloniki all year round and from May to October many additional charter flights fly to the popular tourist locations in mainland Greece and the islands, so getting there is easy.

Ferries

There are several major seaports, Patras, Igomentitsa Thessaloniki and Heraklion are all convenient embarkation points to set sail on a Mediterranean cruise or ferry to Italy, Israel, Egypt or the Black Sea.

By Car

If you are travelling by car to the islands there are ferries from Ancona, Bari, Brindisi and Venice in Italy which go to either Igoumenitsa or Patras.

The quickest route is from the UK is from Dover to Calais, drive through France a small part of France and into Germany (this way you save on all the French tolls), through Austria and down to Venice. You then have a 16 hour crossing to Igoumenitsa (car with 2 passengers approximately 200 Euros). When you arrive in Igoumenitsa it is a 6 hour drive to Thessaloniki.
